Dr. Sokol received his Masters and Doctoral degrees from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and his Bachelors degree from Brandeis University, all in psychology. He also completed a postdoctoral Masters in sacred music. He is a licensed psychologist and Certified Health Services Provider. For twelve years, Dr. Sokol served on the clinical and academic faculties of neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He also completed a post-doctoral clinical fellowship at MGH, in the Neuropsychology Laboratory.
Dr. Sokol is a Fellow of The Association for Psychological Science and a former Fulbright Scholar. He has conducted research and written extensively on the topics of dyscalculia (arithmetic disability) and dyslexia, and lectures frequently on cognitive neuropsychology. He has two sons, 19 years and 16 years old.
Services Provided Dr. Sokol specializes in cognitive and neuropsychological evaluation of children and adolescents with a variety of presenting concerns including ADHD, language-based and non-verbal learning disabilities and memory impairments. He helps parents and teachers to view each child's cognitive profile individually and holistically, and favors a process-oriented approach to understanding cognitive and academic difficulties. |
