WASHINGTON -- The American Psychological Association’s publishing arm has entered an agreement to publish the Journal of Pediatric Neuropsychology (JPNP), the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology (AAPdN). The journal will move to the APA PsycArticles database, and new issues will be published with APA Journals starting in 2025.

“APA Journals is pleased to be selected as AAPdN’s publishing partner,” said Rose Sokol, PhD, APA publisher, journals and books. “We look forward to supporting this journal’s mission to advocate for the appropriate assessment, education, and treatment of children and are excited to welcome this important growing content area into our program.”

APA publishes 89 peer-reviewed journals spanning the breadth and depth of psychology, many published in partnership with APA’s specialty divisions and other national and international societies, reaching millions of readers around the world.

The Journal of Pediatric Neuropsychology publishes original peer-reviewed research focused on the needs of children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders, with practical applications for a pediatric population in clinical, school, and forensic settings.

“This partnership with APA Publishing will allow AAPdN to better serve our community through increased outreach and visibility of pediatric neuropsychology,” said AAPdN President Patricia Mittelstadt, PhD, MS, ABPdN. “In addition, we are honored to partner with APA due to their commitment to similar values and a mission that mirrors our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We expect that our journal will increasingly represent those values and mission as we move forward.”

JPNP’s Editor Cecil R. Reynolds, PhD, said he welcomes this partnership: “Having been an editor of two APA journals, I am excited to bring this sterling author experience to our many contributors to JPNP, and to open JPNP to so many new audiences of psychologists who serve the needs of the birth to 21 years population. Partnering with APA Journals is a win for our authors, our readership, and the children we all serve.”

Open Call for Papers

    • The Journal of Pediatric Neuropsychology is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal that publishes clinically relevant research using scholarly approaches to enhance our understanding of the practice of pediatric neuropsychology in multiple settings. The journal is targeted at clinicians, researchers, and trainees specializing in pediatric neuropsychology and child and adolescent psychology. Pediatric neuropsychology recognizes that the continuum of services for pediatric clients depends on seamless transitions from one setting to another, such as hospital to school or home. Therefore, this multidisciplinary journal focuses on the clinical needs of children and adolescents who have neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders as they traverse multiple avenues of treatment in special education programs in the schools, hospitals, integrative health clinics, neurorehabilitation programs, and private practitioner offices.
    • Pediatric Grand Rounds will feature case studies that include both common and unique or rare conditions to help elucidate the current clinical and empirical literature, and highlight the complexity often seen in pediatric neuropsychology practice. Accepted manuscripts should include the following:
    1. Brief overview of the case, including course of illness, neuroimaging, and neurodiagnostic if relevant
    2. Brief review of epidemiology and disease process
    3. Review of relevant literature as it relates to neuropsychological processes
    4. Review of neuropsychological assessment process and findings
    5. Conceptualization, recommendations, and suggestions for future research.
