Description
This lecture will highlight important clinical information and research on pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome (PANS), pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcus (PANDAS), and childhood postinfectious autoimmune encephalopathy (CPAE). Real case examples will be discussed in addition to the role of neuropsychology in an interdisciplinary clinic dedicated to clinical and research with this population.
Objectives:
Explore the initial presentation of PANS/PANDAS and key determinants for diagnosis
Review common neuropsychiatric and neurocognitive symptoms of PANS/PANDAS
Learn about the University of Arizona Childhood Postinfectious Autoimmune Encephalopathy Center of Excellence (CPAE)interdisciplinary clinic approach and treatment of PANS/PANDAS Participants will understand differences in SLD diagnostic frameworks among private practice, hospital, and school settings
