Description
Level of Activity: Introductory
Background
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) methodologies in the healthcare realm has increased substantially over the past few years. Although several applications demonstrate a high degree of efficacy in clinical practice, there remain several practical and ethical considerations that must be considered by practitioners. Clinical case studies will be shared throughout to highlight common issues related to the use of AI and equity, justice, inclusion, and diversity.
Objectives:
1. Explore the early history and development of AI systems to better understand how current AI programs attempt to solve (and sometimes perpetuate) issues related to equity, justice, inclusion, and diversity in clinical neuropsychological practice.
2. Discuss indicated uses of AI in clinical neuropsychological practice.
3. Evaluate the implications and common ethical concerns encountered by neuropsychologists using AI in clinical practice by reviewing clinical case studies.
