Dr. Wilkinson-Smith will provide an overview of psychological and neuropsychological functioning in pediatric patients with functional neurological disorders. Existing literature on cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial functioning in this population will be reviewed. The specific risk for functional neurological disorders in diverse populations will be discussed, along with relevant gaps in the existing literature. Methods for assessing children and their families will be discussed, including relevant tests as well as interview techniques. Highlights from data collected at the Children's Health Pediatric Functional Neurological Disorders clinic will be provided, along with example case studies.
